Does Rihanna change her hair color for almost every album she makes? Her hair was chestnut when she first hit the scene with albums "Music of the Sun" and "A Girl Like Me", but after that it seemed like Rihanna used her hair color and styles to spice up her image. The well-named album "Good Girl Gone Bad" seemingly fit Rihanna's new personality seen through her style of music and her physical appearance.

After "Good Girl Gone Bad", we've seen Rihanna go to a scale of color spectrums. She has proven to pull off every look from brilliant brunette to bombshell blonde, but Rihanna's newest hairstyle isn't one of my favorites.

Let's take a look at Rihanna's transformation over her almost 7-year period in the public eye.With long chestnut-colored hair, the world knew Rihanna as a sweet girl with a dramatic voice. Two Albums later, Rihanna has her long hair cut to chin length and her brown hair color is changed to midnight black.

Rihanna's new hair color came at the same time as her third album, "Good Girl Gone Bad". Perfectly named for her new attitude, Rihanna mirrored her album's dark side in real life. This was the beginning of a an edgier Rihanna with ripped pants, stilettos and fitted tops.

As if chin-length wasn't short enough, Rihanna had even more strands cut from her hair. This shorter hair showed off her cheek bones and furnished her daring look. Rihanna sported the short, dark hair for five albums adding hints or chunks of blonde to the color while changing styles along the way.

It wasn't until her album "Loud" that Rihanna went back to longer hair and changed the color to the most dramatic one she had done thus far. Red was a bold new change for Rihanna. "Loud" was her chance of speaking out about her past and herself. A transformed again, but different Rihanna had emerged, one with classier fashion sense and a vibrant attitude. Red suited her well and she kept at it for a while, changing the thickness of her curls and trying different shades of the color.

So far I've loved Rihanna's choice of hair colors and styles and I've been impressed by her confidence to flaunt them, but recently Rihanna's choice of hair-do doesn't flatter her beautiful face.

It might be the color or it might be the cut, but whatever it is it's not a good look on her. Rihanna has run out of average colors to use and probably exhausted her style options. All that's left is for her to go a blue color or probably just shave it all off.

To pick a favorite hairstyle and color I'd have to go with her black, chin length hair. Though it aided in her new dramatic look it also showed Rihanna as the sweet girl we first became familiar with.

Keeping a low profile and allowing his tunes to do the talking, Calvin Harris and his 80's disc jockey voice made the SECC Bounce well before International megastar Rihanna took to the sold-out arena tonight. An oversized shadow in the centre of a dazzling LED screen, Mr Harris started the party with his own bass heavy sounds and chart hits.Ending the set with this week's number 1, it was all hands in the air for We Found Love. Written in his hotel room at T in the Park, the Scottish star teased for the arrival of the Barbados beauty. From the distinct aroma of the arena and the various puddles of vomit, as well as starting the party, he also ended it in some cases.

With the entrance of the Loud star imminent, four giant examination lamps lowered dramatically from the ceiling, the stage parted and in a massive ball strewn in pink LED lights, Rihanna was born writhing. From the same womb spilled four neon clad male dancers for a stomping Only Girl (In The World) that kicked the crowd into maximum motion.

One song down and the shiny blue jacket the-23-year-old entered in was soon slung on the floor, revealing a jewelled bikini, excessive and neon in a similar fashion to her earrings and heels. Placing the live prop's hands on two of her assets, recently seen in the fields of Ireland, the pair submerge into the murky depths of the stage, leaving only a guitar solo to soundtrack the crowd's imagination.

With barely time to breath we're now at military school where tanks are pink and crotch stroking is essential. After some banging in the middle of the crowd from a miniature drum kit, Princess Ri-Ri reappears in a more demure, floaty yellow dress. Soon victim of a wind machine, the dress is in fact cut to the navel, though the thigh high boots ensure there's not a severe excess of flesh on show...

From her Mad House of hits What's My Name, Rude Boy and Don't Stop The Music bring the high energy stage show to a brief pause before this evening's encore.

A black grand piano descends from the ceiling for an acoustic Love The Way You Lie with our deviant host perched on top of the piano which slowly rises, revolving in mid-air.

Finally, bringing the fast-paced show to a close, the downpour on the way in has fans well equipped for a grand finale of Umbrella.

‘Rated R’ is expected to hit the shelves next month

R&B STAR Rihanna’s fans have every reason to smile since her long-awaited new release has finally been completed.

The artist’s fourth album will be available in the shops next month, including in South Africa, her recording company Universal Records has confirmed.

Called Rated R this is a long-awaited follow-up to her 2007 multi-platinum Good Girl Gone Bad album.

One of the most anticipated albums by this award-winning Def Jam recording artist, Rated R is scheduled to arrive in the physical and digital marketplace on November 23.

Rated R’s first single pick, Russian Roulette, was launched yesterday worldwide online.

Russian Roulette was written and produced by Ne-Yo, whose long track record with Rihanna includes the hit Unfaithful (2006, from A Girl Like Me), their Top 10 duet Hate That I Love You (2007, from Good Girl Gone Bad), Take A Bow (2008, from Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded).

In addition to Ne-Yo, other producers and writers on Rihanna’s new album include the team of The- Dream and Tricky Stewart, Chase and Status, Stargate, Justin Timberlake and many more.

Good Girl Gone Bad was the third album released in less than two years by the 21-year-old Barbados native.

The music industry is currently dominated by strong women who want to make their mark. This means replacing obviously sexy cleavage dresses with hoods, avant garde shoulders and the occasional eye patch. So the presence of the Barbadian singer Rihanna on the front row at Gareth Pugh said as much about the music industry as it did fashion: this is a man who started his career using the gimp mask as a workable accessory.

Since the explosion of gossip blogs and the resurgence of celebrity magazines, L.A.'s courthouses have grown used to accommodating throngs of paparazzi, videographers, camera crews and reporters who trail the famous to their dates with infamy.

But the crowd expected at this afternoon's preliminary hearing for R&B singer Chris Brown will be on a different order. Fifty-two media outlets have asked to attend the proceeding, far more than were on hand for Paris Hilton's re-jailing, Britney Spears' divorce, the DUI cases of Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie, or the murder trials of Robert Blake or Phil Spector.

"I've never seen this kind of interest, and I've been here seven years," said court spokesman Allan Parachini.

Brown, 20, and his alleged victim, the glamorous 21-year-old pop princess Rihanna, are superstars to the young demographic most interested in celebrity news. Their romance was tabloid fodder before his February arrest for allegedly beating and threatening her during an argument in his rented Lamborghini. The altercation occurred as the couple drove home from a pre-Grammy party, and the news that Rihanna was injured and Brown wanted by police surfaced the next day as scores of celebrity reporters awaited the couple's arrival on the red carpet.

"The way it broke -- so fast and so big out of the gate -- has a lot to do with [the public's interest]. There was this big audience exposed to the story as it started," said Ken Baker, E!'s executive news editor.

Since then, coverage has intensified, with breathless and often contradictory updates about trips to nightclubs, potential new love interests and the evidence in the court case, including text messages from another woman that reportedly triggered the quarrel.

"At the heart of it is this intense romance between these two beautiful people that went bad in this very public way. It has this raw, sensational drama to it," said Baker, who will be in the courtroom for the proceeding.

The preliminary hearing promises something those covering the case could only dream about -- on-the-record sources sworn to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Rihanna could testify, as could Hancock Park residents who witnessed part of the incident. The prospect of such testimony has attracted an array of organizations, from what the court spokesman called "the usual suspects" -- Us, People, TMZ.com -- to "German TV, the Mainichi newspaper from Tokyo, Australian radio, and a publication called Beauty & the Dirt."

Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg denied requests for cameras for the estimated two-hour hearing, putting an even greater premium on the seats in her courtroom. To accommodate the media, court staff and entourages of up to 10 each for the prosecution, Brown and Rihanna, officials have set up a closed-circuit broadcast in a nearby courtroom for the overflow of press and the public.

The interest of the media seems inversely proportionate to the legal stakes of the proceeding. The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to have a trial. Although the hearing resembles a trial with witnesses, evidence and summations, the defense has almost no chance of prevailing, because the burden of proof required -- probable cause -- is much lower than the reasonable-doubt standard for a conviction.

"It can be very perfunctory," said veteran criminal defense lawyer Harland Braun, who is not involved in the case. "The preliminary hearing is really only to determine whether a crime was committed and whether the defendant is the person who is alleged to have done it."

The preliminary hearing can provide both sides insight into the strength of witnesses. According to lawyers for Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, she was subpoenaed to appear and will be at the downtown courthouse and ready to take the witness stand when the hearing begins. But there is no guarantee that prosecutors will call her.

In preliminary hearings, unlike trials, investigators are permitted to summarize the accounts of witnesses in place of live testimony. Rihanna gave an extensive interview to a detective after the alleged assault, according to court documents. The officer could repeat to the judge her claims of a brutal attack that culminated in Brown choking her to the brink of unconsciousness.

What those gathered are unlikely to hear is Brown's side of the story. The singer apologized after the incident and said he was seeking counseling, but he also hired a well-known lawyer, Mark Geragos, to fight the charges, two felonies that carry a maximum sentence of nearly five years in prison. Brown's lawyer is permitted to call witnesses, but such a move is rare because it is unlikely to change the judge's ruling.

"Even if there are two versions of events presented, the judge is still going to find there is probable cause" to move the case forward to trial, Braun said.

Speculation of a romance started after the pair reportedly kissed at a New York City bowling alley.

They were also rumoured to be canoodling at an after-party for the premiere of the film "Year One."

LOS ANGELES — A man claims in a lawsuit that singer Rihanna isn't being a good neighbour.

Christian Moeller sued the 21-year-old pop singer and Stephen Yacobian, who owns the house she rents in Los Angeles. Moeller's lawsuit claims cars routinely park or wait on his property, including cars used by Rihanna.

Moeller also claims a security camera installed at the home in the Hollywood Hills points onto his property.

An e-mail sent to Rihanna's publicist was not immediately returned. Yacobian says the lawsuit is "without merit" but wouldn't comment further until he speaks to his attorney.

Moeller is seeking unspecified damages for trespass, invasion of privacy and other claims.

Why and How Hair Loss Happens

Hair loss occurs because chemotherapy targets all rapidly dividing cells—healthy cells as well as cancer cells. Hair follicles, the structures in the skin filled with tiny blood vessels that make hair, are some of the fastest-growing cells in the body. If you're not in cancer treatment, your hair follicles divide every 23 to 72 hours. But as the chemo does its work against cancer cells, it also destroys hair cells. Within a few weeks of starting chemo, you may lose some or all of your hair.

If you are having chemotherapy, your hair loss may be gradual or dramatic: clumps in your hairbrush, handfuls in the tub drain or on your pillow. Whichever way it happens, it's startling and depressing, and you'll need a lot of support during this time.

Some chemotherapy drugs affect only the hair on your head. Others cause the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes, pubic hair, and hair on your legs, arms, or underarms.

The extent of hair loss depends on which drugs or other treatments are used, and for how long. The various classes of chemotherapy drugs all produce different reactions.

The timing of your treatments will also affect hair loss. Some types of chemotherapy are given weekly and in small doses, and this minimizes hair loss. Other treatments are scheduled every three to four weeks in higher doses, and may be more likely to cause more hair loss.

Chemotherapy drugs

Adriamycin (the “A” in CAF chemo treatment) causes complete hair loss on the head, usually during the first few weeks of treatment. Some women also lose eyelashes and eyebrows.
Methotrexate (the “M” in CMF chemo treatment) thins hair in some people but not others. And it's rare to have complete hair loss from methotrexate.
Cytoxan and 5-fluorouracil cause minimal hair loss in most women, but some may lose a great deal.
Taxol usually causes complete hair loss, including head, brows, lashes, pubic area, legs, and arms.

Other types of breast cancer treatments may also cause hair loss. For example,

Radiation treatment

Radiation only causes hair loss on the particular part of the body treated. If radiation is used to treat the breast, there is no hair loss on your head. But there might be loss of hair around the nipple, for women who have hair in that location. Radiation to the brain, used to treat metastatic cancer in the brain, usually causes complete hair loss on the head.

Hormonal treatments

Tamoxifen may cause some thinning of your hair, but not baldness.

No matter how forewarned you are and how ready you think you are, it's always a terrible shock when your hair falls out.

There are lots of commercial patterns available. I've made hat 'I' from McCall's 3044 and pre-tied scarf 'G' from McCall's 4116. I recently puchased the book "Happy Hats and Cool Caps" by Anne-Metter Hermansen and Tina Elnef. It has lots of hats in lots of sizes, but I think the directions are best interpreted by more experienced sewers. I found them to be confusing in places.

Helpful Ideas for Wearing a Headcovering

Ladies may wear headcoverings for a variety of reasons. Although our covering are designed for those that veil for religious reasons, some ladies seek a headcovering for hair loss or medical reasons. Some ladies that cover as a part of their faith and practice may cover at different times. One may wear a covering at all times, day and night, others during waking hours, some only when leaving the home, and yet others only at prayer or worship. (You can read 1 Corinthians 11 of the Bible for the purpose of a why some Christian women wear a headcovering. In the discussion group link and the Maggie's Veil link below, you can learn more about this and reasons why some Christian women follow this Bible scripture to veil.)

When looking for a headcovering, consider your reason for wearing one and consider what would likely work best for you in fit and comfort. If you are a member of a church that advises a specific type or design of covering for the membership, we encourage you to submit to it or discuss any concerns with your church leadership, or talk to the ladies in your church for help with getting a comfortable fit.

Please note that differences in head shape, head size, how the hair is worn, hair type, hair bun shape, hair bun size, and hair bun placement are all a lot of variables in how a headcovering will fit and it will fit each person differently. Even a small difference in one of these variables can give a different look and different fit. For these reasons, it can be difficult to make one covering pattern that fits everyone the same!

Some patterns will make a covering that is more versatile. The Missionary Veil is one that is likely to fit a lot of ladies in a similar way because its design is loose and flowing. On the other side, the Pleated Covering pattern is very fitted and contoured in design and will fit everyone very differently. We have tried to include tips and ideas with many of the patterns on how to adapt the pattern for a larger or smaller fit. In addition, below is a wonderful link for trying different hair buns and styles.

The best thing is to find a covering design is best for you and your individual headcovering needs. Perhaps you may want to try a few different styles, or talk to others to see what has worked for them and why. Maybe you could exchange or share coverings with others to try to see what works best for you. What doesn't work for one, may work well for you! How to Make a Hair Bun http://www.prayercoverings.com/bun.shtml A friend of mine has compiled a variety of ways to put hair up in a bun or twist. The way your hair is worn can greatly affect the fit of a covering and how it looks on you. Trying a different hair bun can help greatly. The "Mennonite Bun", "Krista's Bun", and "Flat Buns" are all excellent for making a bun that lays flat against the head without feeling so burdensome or heavy. My hair is very long and very thick and this bun style works well. Perhaps try a few styles and see what you like. Some buns take practice, but once you get the hang of it, they are fast and easy to do.

Securing Your Headcovering Some headcoverings can easily slip or slide off the head due to the smoothness of the hair. This can be worrisome for anyone, and especially for someone new to headcovering that feels very aware of their covering when out in public. Here are some ideas to help make sure your covering stays in place. Again, remember some things may work better for some than others.

-Secure on with bobby pins

-Use barrette clippies...you can even paint the clippies with acrylic paint to match your covering color so the clippies don't show as much.

-Sew the "hook" side of Velcro to the under side of the brim or veil edge. The "hooks"grasp your hair and help prevent the snood from slipping.

-If wearing a bonnet with elastic...Make the back nape elastic a bit tighter (and/or shorten the brim length) than is needed to give a tighter fit on the head. But be careful, making a too tight covering will cause it to also slide or "pop" off the back of the head.

-For those that wear their hair down...put hair in a ponytail or braid, then put the covering on...for some reason that seems to help with some styles.

-make buttonholes in the brim lining layer of a bonnet covering of a facing layer of a veil...then you can use the buttonholes in the underside of the brim to secure hair clips to the brim and your hair without clips showing.

-Hand sew two small hair combs to the underside of the brim or veiling edge. Those can then slide into your hair when you put the brim on to help prevent slipping.

-Secure a headband beneath your veil or bonnet by hand-stitching the headband to the cover.

-Place a barrette or clip at the top of your head and then secure your veil or bonnet over and fasten to the clip with a pin. The pin serves as an "anchor" for your covering.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THAT STUFF ON YOUR HEAD?

I've come up with a few "cheaters". Hmm, let's see if I cam describe them in text.

I bought a device in the notions section of a fabric store, it's meant to provide "fit" to loose-fitting coats and dresses. It's a length of elastic with clips on each end, sorry, I forget the proper name. Usually you clip it to the back of a dress or coat, the elastic pulls the garment in, making your waistline more noticeable. Anyway, I clip it to the sides of a scarf, pull the scarf over my head around my neck, smooth my hair back, pull the scarf back up on top of my head, with the elastic under my hair. You might have to experiment to get the fit comfortable on you. That bit of elastic insures a tight fit without tying a large knot in the scarf. I can tie on more scarves which completely cover the elastic, or not. My long hair covers the elastic well enough.

Another "cheater" is a headband made of a rectangular piece of fabric, sewn into a tube, stuffed with quilt filling. The ends of the tube are folded to tapers, a length of elastic is sewn to the ends of the stuffed tube. The results should be a circular headband. The headband substitutes for a scarf, twisted into a rope, tied about the head. Again, pull the headband over your head around your neck, smooth back hair and/or underlaying scarf, pull the headband back up on top of your head, with the elastic under your hair and/or the tied ends of the underlaying scarf. Again, you can tie on more scarves to hide the elastic conpletely.

For a bit of jewelry on the forehead, I made a necklace-like thingie. Instead of a chain and clasp at the back of the neck, it has elastic, sized to fit my head. I put the thingie on, center the pendant on my forehead, then construct a turban on top. The pendant fills my high forehead.

OK, one more. I sew hairclips to the inside of hats. The clips are the kind which snap open when bent one way, snap shut when bent the other way. Put the hat on, clips open, make sure you pick up a bit of hair. Press on the clips, through the hat, snapping the clips shut. I've worn pillbox hats outdoors on many occasions, haven't lost one yet.

As one who always wears turbans I can offer some experiences....

I use light weight cotton (bought from an India sari shop) about 3 yd long (sometimes more) and 15-22 inches wide.

I start by placing my long hair in a bun.

Take an indigo piece (measuring out an arms length for the face wrap) and placing that point in the middle of your forehead using the edge of the material just over my eyebrows (basically you have a short tail on one side and the longer one on the other), tie a single knot at the base of your neck. Using the longer tail firmly wrap around the hat brim area of your head - tucking in the tail inside the brim along the top. This gives you a non slipping base now.

I now apply a second layer of colorful material (matching or contrasting to what I am wear at that moment). This second turban can be any length of material - from 3 to 9 yd. but keep in mind that narrower material is easier to wrap. Start by wrapping the fabric a figure eight over the forehead and at the back of the head until out of fabric. This layer of turban does not have to be as tight.

I have woven strands of pearls and other brightly colored materials as an added contrast to the outermost layer of turban. Sometimes the strands of pearls have crossed under my chin for a more dramatic effect.

Back to the face wrap. I usually leave this laying on the back of my neck for sun protection. I must admit that I have on more than one occasion used this portion of fabric to hide my face when sneaking out into the night *evil grin*.

I will note that it IS possible to have bad turban days. Some time this process can take less than two minutes and OTHERS can be 30 minutes *smile*.

A friend in my mundane middle eastern dance class taught me this trick for keeping something on your head (it's a nurse's trick that they used to keep those white caps on):

Sew a ribbon loop on the underside of your veil. Put your veil on and pick up a small section of hair under the loop of ribbon. Take two bobbie pins and slide them into the hair and the ribbon in the shape of an X. I've used this trick with veils and metal head pieces (tikas and other forehead jewelry) in mundane dance performances which included fast falls, and going from a prone position to a standing position, as well as quick turns.

Middle eastern turbans done with at least 6 yards of material (I cheat with mine and cut my fabric in half so the turban is only 20 some inches wide) don't need anything to hold them on as long as you aren't doing deep back bends or bending too far forward. Winding them is just a matter of practice - there are probably as many ways to wind them as there are people who wear them.

I wear a turban regularly and don't need anything to keep it on, it is all done in the wrapping. I wear a type of turban most Sikh people wear (comes from india). I take a square of pretty material and drape it over my hair, (Which is long and put in a secure bun) then I wrap the cotton turban around my head. Start with a piece of material about 30ish inches wide, fold it over and over into a long rectangle. (this piece should be long enough to trail on the floor when you hold it to your forehead) Start at the center of your forehead and wrap it around the back of your head to meet in a point (Upside down V) in the center of your forehead. Then keep wrapping in a circle almost around your head, keeping it tight. The material should go over the top parts of your ears. Tuck the last bit of material into wherever you end up. Then if you want to take an identically sized piece of material, ( I use silk chiffon) damp it down and wring it out or shake it if you have a friend to help. Then wrap this piece around the same way. This not only gives the turban a smoother finished look, but it also keeps you cool as the water evaporates, great for pennsic. To finish it off like the Sikh women do, place another veil identical to your silk chiffon one over the whole and pin it with a decorative pin in the center above the upside down V. No pins, needles hatpin etc necessary. Honestly the idea of pins that near my head makes me shudder.

For a simple veil I use an agal which is the Arabic word for the cord/wrapped piece of material which is put on over a Keffiyah (the mans rectangular folded headpiece we see arabs wearing today.) I have seen pictures of women wearing them, although in the period sources I have read, it seems that mostly men wore these types of things. However, I will wear them anyway, as they are great for keeping the back of my neck un-sunburned! Hope this helps.
